One Book – King James Bible
Continuing to shine the light from
This article is written to show a three fold witness to the spoken word and scripture, a thread of evidence that can only be applied to the King James Bible of 1611. The assembly of Westminster, Oxford and Cambridge translators and linguists at the hight of the English language were expert in their field of language when they assembled under the reign of King James (who was an Anglican) for the purpose of translating the scriptures into English for the English speaking people. ( Hence the name King James Bible or the Authorised version of 1611.)
Proverbs 21:1 The king’s heart is in the hand of the Lord, as the rivers of water: he turneth it whithersoever he will.
The authorised version, or the av1611 reffers to the spiritual authorisation given to scriptures by Gods people accepting the King James Bible as the Word of God.
This article looks at a three fold witness dealing with scripture.
Ecclesiastes 4:12 And if one prevail against him, two shall withstand him; and a threefold cord is not quickly broken.
The First thread.
If you have studied Religion, the majority of religions have adopted their scriptures from their founders or leaders. Those leaders all have one thing in common and that is they wrote their own creed according to eigther their visions or their interpretation and laws in-which many cases has become that religions creed. But when you compare that to Jesus Christ, who did not come to write anything but had been sent to fulfil that which had already been written in this case the prophecies of the Old Testament.
There is little dispute about the Old Testament which was written largely in Hebrew and had been kept by the Levitical Priest hood. The Old Testament is also a complete and accurate account of the Nation Israel. ( A good source on this subject is Robert Dick Wilson who was an American linguist and Presbyterian scholar who devoted his life to prove reliability of the Hebrew Bible.)
When Jesus began his earthly ministry it was with these words when he said to those in his own synagogue of Nazareth, as his custom was to read the scripture on the sabbath day, Luke 4:16-21 And he began to say unto them, This day is this scripture fulfilled in your ears. ( Read the account). Jesus read from Isaiah 61:1-4 The Spirit of the Lord God is upon me; because the Lord hath anointed me to preach good tidings unto the meek; he hath sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to them that are bound; 2 To proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord, and the day of vengeance of our God.
The first advent, Jesus Christ revealed a valuable lesson that the New Testament was concealed in the Old Testament.
As seen with the disciples Luke 18:31-34 Then he took unto him the twelve, and said unto them, Behold, we go up to Jerusalem, and all things that are written by the prophets concerning the Son of man shall be accomplished. For he shall be delivered unto the Gentiles, and shall be mocked, and spitefully entreated, and spitted on: And they shall scourge him, and put him to death: and the third day he shall rise again. And they understood none of these things: and this saying was hid from them, neither knew they the things which were spoken. (The Disciples were following Jesus concerning the Prophecy of the Messiah to restore the Kingdom to Israel, they weren’t looking at him as the Lamb of God which taketh away the sin of the world. ( That was hid from them, the redemptive work of the cross.)
After the Resurrection the third time Jesus appeared to the two disciples on the road to Emmaus when he opened up the scriptures once again revealing from Moses that he had come to fulfil scripture. Luke 24:27 Beginning at Moses and all the Prophets, he expounded unto them in all the scripture the things concerning himself.
There is a thread that binds the Old Testament and the New Testament is there fulfilment of scripture, which is Jesus Christ himself. In Matthew 26:53-54 when Jesus said how shall then the scripture be fulfilled, that thus it must be? The fulfilment of scripture is the fulfilment of the spoken word. Words become before writing them, called script. A child can speak words but is not able to write them. The word must be is crucial to the character of God who cannot lie, Jesus said about Satan John 8:42- 45…that he abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him, when he speaketh a lie, he speakers of his own, for he is a liar and the father of it.
The first advent of Jesus Christ reveals the concealment of the New Testament in the Old Testament and the New Testament reveals the fulfilment of the Old Testament by the second advent of Jesus. Think of those two little words must be Matthew 26:53-54.
Hebrews 10;7 Then said I, Lo, I come (in the volume of the book it is written of me,) to do thy will, O God. John 5:39 Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me.
Scripture means writing, words existed before print, the spoken word, 2 Peter 1:21 For the Prophecy came not in the old by the will of man: but by holy men of God sake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost. The word Bible means book singular, it is made up of books that when put together make a complete book without contradiction to the spoken word. Jesus said he had come to fulfil scripture, that is the spoken word, so it is important that scripture dosen’t contradict what Jesus said. We have now in the 21st Century over 200 English speaking Bibles since the King James. (List) The contradiction will shew between the Old and New Testament. The thread that binds the two is the person of Jesus Christ.
Since the king James Bible, there has been many Bibles, so how then would you know which one for sure? The best way is to likened t to counterfeit bank notes, they may all look the real deal, have the right words written on them such as Bible, and have the support of those that printed them such as religious organisations and persons. But when put up to the light of the spoken word in this case Jesus said he had come to fulfil scripture, the one thing that should make them genuine is missing such as what is called a hall mark,or water mark, or an official mark or stamp that can’t be copied which makes the article genuine . As with the King James Bible that thread, or stamp can’t be copied, as it is a thread that runs right through the whole article and that thread is Jesus Christ himself. Once you understand what the hall mark is, you will search to find it, if you can’t find it then you are holding a counterfeit which is in reality worth nothing more than the paper it is printed on. ( It is not that the counterfeit dosen’t contain scripture, but what it does is corrupt scripture. Quote: Every Bible except the King James Bible makes Jesus Christ a liar to the spoken word, because the written word contradicts the spoken word. You can’t find that in the King James Bible…. So as a believer do you have Gods word on it? ( Yea have God said…Genesis 3.)
The below list is a good example of how many English Bibles have been printed since 1611
When it comes to the translators of the 1609 Douay-Rheims Bible and the 1752 Challoner’s revision of the Douay – Reheims are the Catholic translations do not follow that pattern of common language, but were kept in Latin and had no intention of putting the scripture into the common Language. Catholicism will always take the scripture out of the hands of the common people in this case hiding it.
Have you found that thread?
The second thread.
The Spiritual witness to scripture.
Scripture has always been recognised by its spiritual nature.
The Authorisation of the King James Bible was by Gods people, It was called the Authorised version av1611. Because it was Gods people who had accepted it. King James authorised the translators of Westminster, Oxford and Cambridge to put the scriptures into the common language of English. Proverbs 21:1 The Kings heart is the hand of the Lord, as the rivers of water: he turned it whithersoever he will.
Often in the Old Testament God would turn the heart of a King such as King Artaxerxes when allowed Nehemiah to go to Jerusalem to rebuild the walls in Nehemiah 2:1ff.
The spiritual nature of scripture has authorised the King James Bible, there had been a book called the apocrypha that had been placed between the Old and New Testament, later it was removed because it didn’t have the same spiritual nature or thread, that harmonised with the rest of scripture.
The Old Testament mentions other books that are not part of scripture, for example we know that the Pentateuch, the first five books of the Bible were written by Moses, but the oldest book known is the book of Job, it placement has not been put at the beginning of the Bible but between Esther and the book of Psalms. Because of where it has been placed in the Bible it harmonises with the rest of scripture in this way: Esther is a Jew marrying a Gentile a picture of the body of Christ, the church also known as the Bride of Christ. After Esther is followed by the 42 chapters of Job, the equivalent to the three and half years of Tribulation ( 42 Months), before Christ returns the second time (second advent), Job is followed by the book Psalms written largely by King David which is the Picture of the Millennial reign of Jesus Christ, King of King and Lord of Lords Revelation 19:16.
Because of Jobs placement it become part of scripture and becomes part of the thread that harmonies with the rest of scripture. This principle can be applied also to the other 65 Books of the Bible.
The spiritual witness and where scripture has been placed shows that the Bible is a Book with a beginning and an end. ( As some one said the Bible does not need to be rewritten but re-read )
The Doctrinal witness to scripture
The Disciples followed the Lord expecting the Kingdom to be restored to Israel, what we know as the New testament was hid from them: Luke 18:31-34 Then he took unto him the twelve, and said unto them, Behold, we go up to Jerusalem, and all things that are written by the prophets concerning the Son of man shall be accomplished. 32 For he shall be delivered unto the Gentiles, and shall be mocked, and spitefully entreated, and spitted on: 33 And they shall scourge him, and put him to death: and the third day he shall rise again. 34 And they understood none of these things: and this saying was hid from them, neither knew they the things which were spoken.
It was Peter who’s said about Christ in 1 Peter 1:20 Who verily was foreordained before the foundation of the world, but was manifest in these last times... It is important to note that Peter wasn’t given the revelation that was given to the Apostle Paul.
The Apostle Paul Paul who said 1 Corinthians 15:8 And last of all was seen of me also as born out of due time... The mystery of the which had been hid in God was Given to Paul and not to Peter Colossians 1:24-28. That is why Paul said in 2 Corinthians 12:7 talked about the thorn in his flesh, to keep him humble because of the Revelation he had received in Galatians 1:15-16.
It is Paul who reveals the body of Christ in 1 Corinthians 12:13 For by one Spirit are we all baptised into one body, whether we be Jew or Gentiles, whether we bond or free…
Because this mystery was not given to Peter, it will help the reader to understand what Peter meant when talking about Paul epistles 2 Peter 3:16 As also in all his epistles, speaking in them of these things; in which are some things hard to be understood, which they that are unlearned wriest the scriptures, unto their own destruction
Peter message in the early part of Acts was still on the emphasis of Jesus returning to restore the Kingdom to Israel. Before Christ Ascension the disciples asked in Acts 1:6-8 When they therefore were come together, they asked him, saying, Lord, wilt thou at this time restore the kingdom to Israel? And he said unto them it is not for your know the time nor seasons, which the Father hath put in his own Power.
The next event is the day of pentecost and Peter was preaching from the book of Joel 2:28-32 , Acts 2:17-39. scripture or prophecy that would take place before that great and notable day of the Lord. They were looking for Christ to return as Messiah, to fulfil scripture, but as the book of Isaiah had prophesied the Nation would reject him as Messiah, was finally fulfilled when you get to Acts 7ff when Stephen was preaching to the Elders of Israel, and had pointed out that nothing had changed when he said Acts 7:51 Ye stiff necked and uncircumcised in heart and ears, always resist the Holy Ghost: as your fathers did, so do ye..on hearing this they turned on Stephen, and stoned him, Stephen was the first to be martyred, who said while being stoned, looked up into Heaven and saw the Glory of God and Jesus standing on the right of God Acts 7:52-60.
Jesus was standing ready to return, but Israels rejection at Stephens death, introduces the Apostle Paul ministry to the Gentiles and the revelation of the Body of Christ , which is the Bride of Christ, which ends in a mystery of meeting the Lord in the air 1 Corinthians 15:56 which is followed by the marriage the Bride of Christ, the book of Esther, followed by Job, the Great tribulation on earth, where Joels prophecy which is fulfilled in Revelation 6:12 is when the sun will be turned into sackcloth and the moon into blood, and finally the last book of the Bible the book of Revelation:1-1 The Revelation of Jesus Christ….returns as King of King and Lord of Lord.
The purpose of scripture is summed as seen with the Ethiopian Eunuch who was a Jewish Proselyte leaving Jerusalem Acts 8:26-38 needed Philip to guide him in scripture, when he was reading out of the Book of Isaiah 53:1-10 dealing with the sufferings of Christ and his subsection on the cross.
“The place of the scripture which he read was this, He was led as a sheep to the slaughter, and like a lamb before his sharer, so opened he not his mouth: In his humiliation his judgment was taken away: and who shall declare his generation for his life is taken from the earth. And the eunuch answered Philip, I pray thee of whom speakers the Prophet? of himself or of some other man, Then Philip opened his mouth and began at the same scripture and preached unto him Jesus.”
The result was that eunuch believed Jesus Christ was the Son of God and then got Baptised as a Believer. That is the whole point of scripture, for man to put their faith in the one that scripture reveals and that is the person of Jesus Christ who died for our sins was buried and rose again. ( Man does not need a religion but a Saviour in which to trust.)
The Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me.
Do other Bibles then contain scripture? The majority of them do, some obviously more than others. But they all have one common thread and that is they attack what is known as sound doctrine which relates to Jesus Christ. I have given a list bellow so you can study and compare for your self.
- The Deity of Jesus Christ. (God was manifest in the flesh)
- The finished work of Christ. ( Salvation is by Grace alone and not by works )
- The second coming of Jesus Christ. ( The pre- Tribulation and pre- Millennial reign of Jesus Christ )
- The eternal security of the Believer. ( Doctrine of predestination )
- The Body of Christ, the Church the Bride of Christ, made up of all born again believers both Jew and Gentile, ( not to be confused with churches, which you can see.)
- The next event on Gods time table is the mystery of the has the rapture of the Church. ( This is when the Body of Christ meets the Lord in the air before the Great Tribulation)
- The final authority on all faith and practise is the King James Bible.
The question was once asked me, what is a Bible Believer? In my case growing up around Christians I believed the King James Bible was the Bible long before I found Salvation in Jesus Christ. The term Bible Believer is related Generally to those that recognise that there is only one book that is the final authority on all faith and practise. The Characteristics of a Bible a believer are unique to no other book, than the King James Bible.
I will worship toward thy holy temple, and praise thy name for thy lovingkindness and for thy truth:for thou hast magnified thy word above all thy name.
Psalm 138: 2
